2. Replace any existing content with the block below (or append if you have your own preamble — keep ours below it so our rules win on conflict).
3. Save. Cline will load it on every prompt going forward.

## Why a global block AND `.clinerules`

Custom Instructions are sent on *every* prompt, in *every* repo. So this block is intentionally light (~5 KB). For deeper coverage in a specific project, also drop `.clinerules` in the repo root — it adds the full ~80-item compact set + the 8 numerical contracts + universal anti-patterns.

If only one is feasible, prefer **`.clinerules` per project** over global instructions. Global pays the context cost on every prompt regardless of relevance.
