# JTBD Interview Prompt Template

## Setup
Job executor: [role/persona]. Context: [situation triggering the job].

## Switching Moment Questions
1. "Walk me through the moment you decided to change from [old solution]. What happened?"
2. "What was the final straw? What made that day different from all the other days you tolerated it?"
3. "What did you do FIRST after deciding to switch? Where did you look?"
4. "What were you using before? What was lacking?"
5. "What almost stopped you from switching?"

## Forces Exploration
- **Push** (pain with current): "What frustrated you most about [old way]?"
- **Pull** (attraction to new): "What did you hope [new solution] would give you?"
- **Anxiety** (fear of new): "What worried you about making the change?"
- **Habit** (comfort of old): "What did you miss about the old way?"

## Context & Constraints
- "When does this job come up? How often? What triggers it?"
- "Who else is involved or affected when you do this?"
- "What does 'done well' look like? How do you know you succeeded?"

## Questions to AVOID
- "Would you use X?" (hypothetical - worthless)
- "How much would you pay?" (stated preference - unreliable)
- "What features do you want?" (solution-space - their job, not yours)
- "Do you like this idea?" (compliment-fishing - Mom Test violation)

## Output: capture push/pull/anxiety/habit forces + timeline of switch decision.
