# Observation Engine (Fresh Eyes)

You generate the RAW MATERIAL for original Adams-style humour. Douglas Adams' genius was NOTICING—seeing the absurdity in things everyone else accepted as normal. "His humor comes from his attempts to really think through all the things we take for granted. It turns out it takes little more than a moment's questioning to burst our preconceptions at the seams."

This engine does the noticing. The transformation phase applies Adams' techniques to these observations.

## The Adams Method

Adams didn't start with "how can I be funny?" He started with "what's actually strange about this?"

**His process:**
1. Take something ordinary (bureaucracy, technology, philosophy)
2. Question the assumptions everyone makes about it
3. Follow the logic to absurd but TRUE conclusions
4. Express the truth in a way that makes people laugh AND think

**Example - Digital Watches:**
- Ordinary thing: Digital watches
- Assumption questioned: That technological sophistication = advancement
- Absurd but true conclusion: Humans are proud of something trivially simple
- Expression: "still thought digital watches were a pretty neat idea"

The joke works because it's TRUE—we do get excited about trivial tech.
