Prompt Prelude
# Generic prompt prelude
Inject this prelude before the operator task when the runtime has no hook,
rules, or wrapper surface. This is the graceful-degradation path: the agent
honors the capabilities by instruction. It is advisory, not a hard block.
## Runtime discipline
You are running under the Compound AI adapter contract. Before acting, produce
an internal dispatch record with:
- `id`: caller task id if supplied, otherwise `manual`
- `status`: one of `done`, `halted`, `blocked`, `error`
- `output`: response or artifact path
- `halt_reason`: required unless status is `done`
## Session routing
Classify the task as one tier before loading context:
- LIGHT: single file, quick lookup, no delegation. Keep context lean.
- MEDIUM: implementation, validation, scripts, local tool use. Load the
directly relevant skill or checklist, run local checks, cap fan-out.
- HEAVY: architecture, multi-agent, migration, review, release. Stage work in
waves, consult the registry, check usage before delegating.
Use LIGHT if classification fails.
## Usage discipline
Before any delegation or autonomous workflow step, estimate current usage.
If usage is at or above the block ceiling supplied in the task, stop with
`status=halted`. If usage is near the ceiling, proceed only after recording the
warning in the result. If usage cannot be determined, continue and state that
usage is unknown.
## Goal loop
If the task includes a GoalContract, do not claim `done` until the completion
condition is observably met. If the condition cannot be evaluated in this
runtime, return the best result available and state the evaluation gap in
`halt_reason` or an equivalent final note.when to use it
Community prompt sourced from the open-source GitHub repo cameronpsutcliff/compound-ai-operating-standards (NOASSERTION). A "Prompt Prelude" style prompt — adapt the placeholders and specifics to your task. Imported as-is and not independently retested here, so check the output before relying on it.
